Because I'm such a reader, I was looking for something for my teenaged nieces to read," ReShonda says. "The stuff I found they said was too young or too boring. The stuff they found was too adult for my tastes.  So I decided  to write something teens could enjoy and their parents wouldn't mind them reading.  And because I'm all about keeping it interesting, I wanted to make sure it was something that would keep them turning pages!  I'm blessed to say I've found that in the drama-filled lives of The GoodGirlz."

ReShonda already had a fly job as a television news reporter for Fox News in Houston, Texas, but after a while, she decided to step out on faith and become a full-time writer.  That's what she's doing these days...writing her adult books (including: The Pastor’s Wife, Let the Church Say Amen, Everybody Say Amen, I Know I’ve Been Changed, My Brother's Keeper, and Help! I've Turned into my Mother)...writing her teen books Nothing But Drama, Blessings in Disguise (which was voted a #1 pick by Ebony Magazine) With Friends Like These, and Getting Even. (She has two more teen books on the way)....and filming her movies.

That's right, ReShonda's books are headed to the big screen!  She's serving as Executive Producer on Let the Church Say Amen, the movie.  We'll keep you posted on when that (and her other books) are coming to a theater near you!

ReShonda, who lives in Houston, graduated from The University of Texas at Austin.  She has three of the cutest kids you'll ever meet (two GoodGirlz in training and an adorable baby boy).

Drama was her middle name...

Our creator ReShonda Tate Billingsley will admit it...she put the
Dram in Drama!

As a teen, she had an active imagination.  From making up stories about life in the hood, to convincing her little sister she knew how to fly, to writing off-the-chain poems, ReShonda could always be found with a pen in one hand and book in the other.  She loved to read and loved making up stories just as much.  So it's no surprise that the national bestselling author would come up with The GoodGirlz series.
